Bradford West Gwillimbury COVID Vaccine Update
It's been several days since I did one of these community COVID updates, but I figured with the announcement that Ontario was suspending first-dose injections of the Astra Zeneca vaccine that an update is due.
Why Update Now?
Ontario suspended first dose use of the Astra Zeneca vaccine after 8 people developed the rare Vaccine-Induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia (vaccine-induced blood clots) out of over 850,000 doses given. I could not find an "effective date" for this order at the time of writing this, so one could assume it is immediate.
The government is currently reviewing data to decide if they will administer Astra Zeneca as a second dose to those that have already received a first dose of the vaccine.

The AstraZeneca Alternatives
All residents living anywhere within Bradford West Gwillimbury that are 18+ can still book appointments to receive their first dose of either the Moderna of Pfizer vaccine at the Bob Fallis Arena "hot spot clinic". As of Wednesday morning (May 12th), there are still open appointments in May as follows;
May 22 - 10 am to 5 pm (46-time slots available)
May 23 - 10 am to 5 pm (68-time slots available)
May 27 - Noon to 7 pm (70-time slots available)
May 29 - 10:40 to 4:45 pm (55-time slots available)
There are no dates listed for June yet, I will try to do another update when they do or as the eligibility ages are expanded again.
Note: You will not get to choose which vaccine you recieve at the clinic, it is based on availability.
How to Book a Vaccination Appointment
The easiest way to book is online at https://www.townofbwg.com/vaccine . All you need to book the appointment is an email address, your street address, birthdate and name. You will need proof of residency in BWG and your Ontario Health Card when you go for your vaccination appointment.
Select a date on the top (the calendar does not work for this) , then on the right hand side select a time slot and enter your information below. If you are not comfortable booking online there is a phone number you can call on the page for assistance.
Please note: If you change your mind about the day you want to book your appointment for, REFRESH the page and start again. The system has trouble figuring out which date you want to book for unless you do this, and could show that no appointments are available.
